The Crispiest Brussels Sprouts Ever

Hellooooo and good morning to the crispiest brussels sprouts ever! And good morning to you – the lucky person in the world – who is about to make these! This recipe is quick and easy and it’ll turn anyone into a brussels sprout fan, guaranteed.

I know what you’re thinking… the humble brussels sprout. A small, unassuming green veg that often divides the dinner table. Some people love their unique flavor and others say “absolutely not” – thinking about the overcooked, mushy brussels sprouts of childhood meals. But hear me out, when they’re done right, these cute mini cabbages transform into a surprisingly crispy, make-you-come-back-for-more veggie side dish.

How to make the Crispiest Brussels Sprouts EVER

The secret to achieving the crispiest brussels sprouts lies in two elements: the prep and the cooking technique. First, let’s talk prep. Start by selecting firm, vibrant, preferably large green sprouts. Wash them thoroughly. Cut off the woody stem, halve them and remove the outer leaves. These leaves often have tears or are already starting to peel away.

Next comes the cooking technique. Though many methods exist, from boiling to shredding to grilling, the route to optimum crispiness is roasting. Preheat your oven to 425º. While the oven is heating up, get everything else ready. Whisk your eggs and mix the breading in a separate bowl. Dunk them into the egg mixture, then coat them with breading. Spread out the coated sprouts on a baking sheet, making sure not to crowd the pan. This is crucial to achieve maximum crispness — too close together, and the sprouts will steam rather than roast.

Slide the baking sheet into the oven and let the magic happen. After about 20-25 minutes, you’ll start to see the sprouts browning and crisping up. You can toss them around halfway through the cooking process to ensure even browning.

Pull them out of the oven when they are perfectly golden and crispy.

How to Jazz Up the Crispiest Brussels Sprouts Ever

You guessed it… your culinary adventure doesn’t end here. Now’s the time to get creative. A sprinkle of parmesan cheese right when they come out of the oven, a drizzle of balsamic reduction, a toss in sweet and spicy sauce, or even a dollop of aioli on the side can elevate the flavors to a new level. Alternatively, you can toss them onto your favorite salad as a crunchy addition to the flavor party.

And there you have it — the crispiest brussels sprouts ever! They’re perfect as a healthy side dish, a unique salad topping, or even as a savory snack. These crispy wonders are sure to convert even the most steadfast brussels sprouts haters. So go ahead, give it a try and experience a whole new world of veggie possibilities.
