Sausage Croissant Breakfast Bake

This sausage croissant breakfast casserole is so simple to make and it's always a crowd pleaser. Brunch recipe dreams come true! It's great for meal prep or a Christmas brunch.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 large croissants preferably day-old
  • 1 lb. breakfast sausage
  • 1 cup shredded gruyere cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions
 

  • Prepare your baking dish. Preheat your oven to 350ยบ. Grease a (or a 9x13 baking dish) with butter or nonstick cooking spray.
  • Brown your sausage. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Once it's hot, add the sausage and cook until no pink remains. Drain off the grease and pour half of the sausage into the prepared baking dish.
  • Spread 1/2 cup of gruyere and 1/2 cup of white cheddar over the sausage. Add half of the ripped croissants.
  • Whisk the egg mixture. In a large bowl, whisk together 8 eggs, 2 cups whole milk, 1 cup heavy cream, 2 teaspoons sea salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, and 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes. Pour half of the egg mixture into the baking dish.
  • Add the remaining sausage and croissants. Pour over the remaining whisked eggs. Top with the remaining cheese.
  • Bake 1 hour, checking periodically to make sure that the croissants aren't burning.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Enjoy!
